Digital Elevation Models: A Relief of the Earth's Surface

Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) display relief information of the Earth's surface, it is a digital representation of the ground surface topography.

Based upon SAR data acquisitions from two passes of TerraSAR-X, Infoterra is able to generate DEMs with a vertical accuracy of up to 5m, depending on the acquisition mode applied and terrain characteristics.

With the upcoming TanDEM-X Mission – a second spacecraft will orbit in formation flight with TerraSAR-X, enabling simultaneous acquisitions of the same target area –global DEM generation of an unprecedented accuracy, coverage and quality, will become possible.
