Infoterra's Emergency Response Support in China Acknowledged

Infoterra's parent company EADS has recently received an official Letter of Appreciation from the Chinese National Disaster Reduction Committee (NDRCC) Office of the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs, which organized and conducted the assessment work for the remote sensing supervision of the damage after the Wenchuan Earthquake.

In this letter, the authority states that free TerraSAR-X satellite remote sensing data was "provided to NDRCC in a very short time, which laid an important data basis for the extension of the damage supervision area, improvement of the damage assessment accuracy and such. Meanwhile, it played a very important role to contribute and provide the decision support product in time to the National Headquarter for Earthquake Resistance and Disaster Relief and the members of the National Disaster Reduction Committee."

Further, the letter expresses the "appreciation to your full support to our national disaster reduction and rescue work" and the hope that the application of space technology in disaster reduction will be significantly increased in the future.
