TerraSAR-X Launch -5hrs and Counting ...

TerraSAR-X is scheduled to be launched at 04.14 hrs CEST on Friday, June 15th, 2007.

The TerraSAR-X Launch is now approaching rapidly. 5 hours to go. Excitement with Infoterra-, Astrium- and DLR-teams is growing, while all preparations are fully on schedule.

Klaus Koeble, head of EADS Astrium's TerraSAR-X launch team on site in Baikonur, regularly reports the current status of activities from Baikonur:

"June 14th, 2007... This is L-1...

We have successfully performed the launch rehearsal - communication channels with the Mission Control in Oberpfaffenhofen are functioning perfectly; and the rehearsal of the countdown sequence went smoothless as well.

All preparations on the rocket are finalized - the rocket is now in stand-by mode and will not be worked on again until L-2 hrs.

At L-4 hrs we will do a final battery check on TerraSAR-X before closing the battery relay; after that, the spacecraft is "ready to go".

This is L-1!"
