TerraSAR-X Launch Preparations on Track

TerraSAR-X has now been integrated into the Dnepr's fairing, and was transported to the launch pad.

Klaus Koeble, head of EADS Astrium's TerraSAR-X launch team on site in Baikonur, regularly reports the current status of activities from Baikonur:

"June 11, 2007... This is L-4...
The launch preparations are still on track. At the end of last week, we checked the batteries of the satellite - everything okay!

The final checks of the rocket's control system were performed, the resulting data is being analysed now - a routine operation, that does not worry our Russian colleagues at all - they expect no surprises.

We are currently preparing the launch rehearsal scheduled for wednesday. Together with our colleagues in Oberpfaffenhofen, we will simulate the last hour before the start and make sure that all communication channels are working properly. Afterwards, interfaces and procedures will be checked with the Russian teams.

In parallel, we are already packing and preparing our equipment for the return journey to Friedrichshafen... This is L-4..."

TerraSAR-X is scheduled to be launched at 04.14 hrs CEST on Friday, June 15th, 2007.
