TerraSAR-X: Launch Team back in Baikonur

Klaus Koeble, head of EADS Astrium's TerraSAR-X launch team on site in Baikonur, regularly reports the current status of activities from Baikonur:

"Things are looking good: The electronical check-out of the launch vehicle was completed successfully - an important step towards the satellite's launch. The space head module has been returned to the integration centre, and the preparations for integrating the spacecraft have begun today."

TerraSAR-X will be unloaded from its container again this coming weekend. As it is already in its "final flight settings", only a few finishing touches - such as loading batteries - are still to be performed. Mid of next week, the spacecraft will be brought to the silo for integration on the rocket.

Until then, everyone remains confident and good-humored, following the well-known German slogan "Alles wird gut" - Everything is going to be fine.

The PPP partners DLR and Astrium expect a final confirmation of the launch date, envisaged for mid-june, any day now. As soon as the date has been ultimately determined, it will be announced on this website.
